About oh design lab
Founded by designer Oliver Hidalgo, OH Design Lab is a small, independent studio focused on residential and adaptive reuse design. The work is guided by craft, clarity and meaning, bringing together design sensitivity and real world construction experience.
In addition to his full-time role at a respected architecture firm, where he contributes to educational and public projects across Kentucky and beyond, Oliver occasionally takes on private residential commissions through OH Design Lab. The experience gained in practice continually informs his independent work, grounding each project in collaboration, constructability, and care. These limited commissions offer the opportunity to work closely with homeowners and builders on a more personal scale. Projects that allow for slower, more intentional design and a direct connection between idea and craft.
Oliver’s architectural education began in Chile and continued in the United States, where he earned his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky. His studies included international work in the Netherlands and Russia, experiences that broadened his understanding of how culture and craft shape the built environment.
